In September 2016 when my autistic grandson, Ace, was 15 years old, he had 4 Grand Mal seizures which almost took his life. Due to this tragedy he was granted a wish from Make-A-Wish Vermont in May 2017. His wish was to have a camper as he loved camping and the outdoors. Make-A-Wish Vermont granted his wish by giving him a luxury pop-up camper! I’m so grateful of the wonderful generosity that Make-A-Wish Vermont has shown towards him by granting his wish. I’m also thankful for all that Make-A-Wish Vermont does for children and their families. To show my appreciation I’m turning my whiskers into wishes since 2020 Annual Vermont Beardies contest to benefit Make-A-Wish Vermont!!! I was honored to be chosen, "Vermont's Best Beard of 2020."
Team Pappie won the Best Beard of Vermont in 2020 and was awarded by an anonymous donator a trip to Disney for 4. Due to issues of 2020, the trip was extend out a year. Our humble experience to see what a child goes through when attending Disney is priceless.

Although the Beardies Contest came to a "Hairy End" last year, marking an 8 year streak raising funds for Make-A-Wish Vermont. Our burning desire to continue the tradition, Team Pappie is announcing, "Whiskers For Wishes" here in 2025 with a goal of $10,000!
